This wildlife photography tour set in west Uganda gives you the best photographic opportunities of Africa’s Wildlife. From the Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees of the Western forests to the lions and elephants of the flat plains, a wildlife photography enthusiast will find this photo holiday more than enjoyable. From photographing the Three Horned Chameleon with a macro lens to using your telephoto with African Leopards, this trip will bring the best of biodiversity to your camera.



Located in the vast forests of Kibale, Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Park, Untamed Photography Tours’ award-winning wildlife photographers will take you on an inspirational and once in a lifetime 12-day photographic workshop/safari in the heart of Uganda. Here you will make a memorable journey to photograph the great Chimpanzees of the forest and the exceedingly rare Mountain Gorillas that feed in the Ugandan mountains. During this unique trip, we will take you into the Queen Elizabeth National Park where we will focus on getting great images of the famous Big Five and the many other species of wildlife on and off land to satisfy your photographic needs.

This photo tour located in West Uganda takes you into five wildlife hotspots. Mabamba Swamp, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park. The West side of Uganda holds a contrast of forest mountains and lowland plains where numerous species of wildlife such as gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants to name a few, roam these magnificent landscapes.

Photograph some of the rarest species here in Uganda




The first day will start by leaving Entebbe and heading towards Mabamba Swamp. Here you will take a breath-taking boat trip through the swamp to photograph the numerous species of birds including the famous Shoebill Stork. After, we will take a cultural ride up Northwest to the National Park of Kibale Forest. We will arrive at our forest lodge where many photographic opportunities of primates will be at your lens, such as the magnificent Black-and-white Colobus Monkey and the mischievous Olive Baboons.


The group will wake up early and make their way to the heart of the Kibale Forest where we will meet our park ranger, who will guide us through the forest in search of primates and in particularly the wild Chimpanzees. After a full day of photographing these stunning primates, we will take our leave and will spend the night in the forest lodge just outside the National Park.



We take our leave and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park where we will arrive in the afternoon at the bush lodge. Your first game drive will take place in the Northern sector of the park this afternoon, where photographic opportunities of Elephant, Hippo, Lion and much more.


A morning photo safari in the Kasenyi Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, followed by an afternoon photo safari to capture those images that best represents Africa’s wildlife. Our wildlife photographer Mark A Fernley will be here to help you capture those images of a lifetime and provide expert photographic advice.



One morning photo safari in the crater mountains in search of Elephants along with magnificent views in the northern area, followed by an exciting afternoon boat ride to photograph Hippo and bathing Elephants in the Kazinga Channel. Our wildlife photographer Mark A Fernley will be here to help you capture those images of a lifetime and provide expert photographic advice.


We take our leave and head down to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where wildlife photography opportunities are endless. Packed lunches will be supplied. We will take a long stop at the Ishasha River where a Hippo photo shoot will take place on foot. On the other side of the river, the Congo Forest supplies the river with flourishing species of wildlife. We will take a short photo game drive to the lodge where we will spend the night.


Morning photo drive to find and photograph the tree dwelling Lions that makes Ishasha famous for this strange lion activity. Packed lunch will be served at another viewpoint where more hippos thrive in their many numbers that occasionally break out in fights making great photographs. We will later return to the lodge for a relaxing evening and photographic talk/critique.


An early start and we will make our way south to the Bwindi Mountains to see the famous Mountain Gorillas of Uganda. This lengthy trip will get us there in the afternoon where a Chameleon photographic shoot will take place at the lodge that can last hours due to their lack of movement. On site, forest Elephants can be seen around the lodge making this place exciting.


This day is spent tracking the Mountain Gorillas and photographing their spectacular features with the National Park guards and the photographers. A photo tutorial will take place before the walk to get you prepared. This will be an all-day trip with packed lunch that will get you back just before evening.

DAY 10

We will take our leave through the mountains of Bwindi, and we will get to Lake Mburo National Park, a halfway point to Entebbe. We will have lunch and then make our way out to photograph African wildlife such as zebra, elephant, and much more.

DAY 11

One last morning safari held in Lake Mburo National Park to get those last photographs. After we will drive to the Airport Guesthouse in Entebbe for your final night.

DAY 12

Breakfast will be served around 8am at the Airport Guesthouse. After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.



The accommodation provided at all three locations of this tour gives you a more than comfortable stay but in a rather adventurous environment. This will give you a true feeling of what Uganda has to offer. With our local and more than friendly Ugandan staff we will ensure your stay with us to be unique and fulfilling.
