Etosha, Into the Distance
Find out what our leading wildlife photographer Mark A Fernley is getting up to outside of our photography tours. Read about his photography journey to photograph the wildlife of Etosha National Park, located in North Namibia.
When it comes to the harsh sands and open spaces of Namibia, creating an image that best describes the vast and empty spaces seemed to be suitable during this photo expedition. These three images labelled (Into the distance 1,2,3) truly express the open and barren areas that these animals live in. By framing the animals in such an isolated position in the frame, it really expresses how isolated the wildlife truly are in this area of North Namibia. Again, by using the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport Lens fixed to the Canon 5D Mark IV, I was able to zoom out to at least 150-300 to transform the background into the subject. As the animals in the frame were photographed at such a distance, the lens had to be held on a beanbag in the truck to help gain the best quality.
