SAFARI OVERVIEW

This Tanzania Wildlife Photo Safari is an exciting adventure for any wildlife photographer or enthusiast. Guests will start off with two days in Tarangire National Park, a location dominated by elephants, along with plenty of other migrating mammals in search of water. From there, the group will make their way into the Ngorongoro Crater to visit the residential wildlife of the crater floor including Rhino, Zebra, Giraffe, Lion, Hyena, Flamingo and many other bird species. Spend an entire day on the crater floor with a packed lunch and photograph wildlife as you eat!

The next stop on this trip is  Central Serengeti where you will find yourself in a very unique location, where savannah meets forest. Situated right in the middle of two very different landscapes, we are in a prime destination for wildlife including many big cats on the hunt.

Saving the best for last, we will then make our way north to the Mara River, where thousands of animals have flooded the area during this time of year, including the most iconic Wildebeests  that are following the rains to the north. Experience the mega herds crossing the Mara River in their thousands, where photo opportunities in this location are never-ending.

Great Migration Photo Safari

LOCATION

NORTHERN CIRCUIT, TANZANIA

Heading to four major wildlife destinations in Tanzania, this tour offers something entirely different for photographers in each location.

Tarangire National Park is known to have the largest elephant population in Tanzania with over 5,000 elephants visiting this park during the dry season in search of water. The Tarangire River makes a perfect home during the harsher season (June - September)

The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where wildlife thrives inside an ancient dormant volcano. Life here is abundant with all of Africa's top wildlife species.

Central Serengeti is where predators are plentiful. With the iconic open savannahs of Africa, Central Serengeti provides predators with the perfect hunting grounds. With the lion breading grounds just a few kilometers from camp, photo opportunities are never too far away.

Northern Serengeti or the Mara Region of Serengeti National Park is most active duing the months of June to September, when the Great Migration of Wildebeests are on the move for fresh grass. With the wildebeests crossing the Mara River frequently throughout these months, photographers can experience mega herds in their thousands!

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

CAMERA BODY:

  • Guests are encouraged to bring a camera body with a minimum of 24-megapixels to guarantee the best results while on safari. This can be mirrorless or a DSLR, as your photo host is experienced with both and will be able to offer assistance whenever need be.

  • A second camera body is always a great consideration, however, this is not mandatory. This can be used as a backup, or you can keep a second lens attached and switch back and forth between cameras.

LENSES:

  • A telephoto lens with a reach of at least 500 mm. This can be a fixed/prime lens or a zoom lens. â€‹

  • If you intend to bring a fixed/prime lens of 500 mm or more, you will also need a closer range lensA 100 - 400 mm or similar is a great option, as this will allow you to get shots of wildlife that comes closer to the vehicle

  • If you are interested in taking landscape photographs during the trip, we recommend a wide angle lens that ranges anywhere between 12 mm - 105 mm. This can be used for landscapes, astro-photography, close range wildlife, and congregations of wildlife.
