WILD KENYA PHOTO SAFARI
SAFARI OVERVIEW
Join us for an 11-day photographic journey through Kenya’s most iconic wildlife regions, moving from the elephant-rich plains of Amboseli to the wild landscapes of Tsavo, before finishing in the predator capital of the Masai Mara.
We begin in Amboseli National Park, spending three nights dedicated almost entirely to elephant photography. With Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance and vast open plains stretching across the park, Amboseli is world-famous for its super tuskers and large, relaxed elephant herds. The open terrain allows for clean compositions, dramatic backdrops, and close, respectful encounters, making it one of Africa’s finest locations for elephant photography.
From Amboseli, we drive south to Tsavo, where we spend two nights exploring this vast and varied ecosystem. Tsavo offers a strong mix of general wildlife photography, from plains game and birds to some of Kenya’s most characterful lions. A highlight of this section is time spent at Lions Bluff Photo Hide, a specialised underground hide that allows photographers to capture wildlife at eye level as animals approach a waterhole. This unique perspective creates intimate, powerful images both day and night.
The journey concludes with a flight from Tsavo to the Masai Mara, where we spend four nights immersed in one of Africa’s most dynamic wildlife arenas. This region is renowned for its high density of predators, including lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, as well as its role in the Great Migration. During migration season, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move through the area, often drawing intense predator activity and offering the potential for dramatic river crossings and hunting behaviour.
Designed as a true photography-focused safari, this journey prioritises time, access, and positioning in the field, allowing photographers to work scenes patiently and creatively across three of Kenya’s most rewarding ecosystems.

RECOMMENDED GEAR
CAMERA BODY:
-
Guests are encouraged to bring a camera body with a minimum of 24-megapixels to guarantee the best results while on safari. This can be mirrorless or a DSLR, as your photo host is experienced with both and will be able to offer assistance whenever need be.
-
A second camera body is always a great consideration, however, this is not mandatory. This can be used as a backup, or you can keep a second lens attached and switch back and forth between cameras.
LENSES:
-
24–70mm lens: Perfect for hide photography in Samburu and Tsavo, allowing for immersive wide shots, portraits, and environmental storytelling when animals approach the hides at close range.
-
70–200mm lens: Another essential for hide setups, offering excellent reach and compression for slightly more distant subjects while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness in tight spaces.
-
400mm/500mm prime lens: Highly recommended for Masai Mara game drives and general wildlife photography throughout the safari. These lenses provide the reach and clarity needed to capture intimate predator moments, action scenes, and wildlife behavior in open terrain.
